Just read in my morning paper that our home county in Florida lost three “more”, pedestrians and one bicyclists in separate traffic accidents in just the last week. All four fatalities occurred at different locations but along our most heavily travelled roads. The savage killing and maiming of our most vulnerable road users continues as bike clubs and pedestrian safety advocates scream for something to be done. Here’s our something:

Folks, roads are not safe for automobiles much less for motorcyclists, pedestrians, and bicycle riders. Furthermore, road safety for all users can only come if automobile drivers follow only the road rules that we advocate following.
Here’s a hint: if we don’t enforce different traffic laws than just speeding we will continue to slaughter the smaller users on the road. In our county about 1/2 of the traffic fatalities every year are bicyclists, motorcyclists, and pedestrians. Additionally, they make up less than 1/2 of 1% of the total traffic. In other words they are being killed and severely injured at a much, much greater proportion than their road usage would suggest.
